About Us

Lucy West Hitchin Pet SitterHello my name is Lucy West.  I am married to Jono and we have three children. We live in Hitchin with our much loved pets, black and white 1 year old Bobbie and dwarf Dutch rabbit Matilda. Matilda is the boss really, keeping a keen eye on who comes into her garden and very much chooses when Bobbie is allowed to share her run!  I have nearly always had pets at home and find their funny ways very entertaining.

I recently met Dave and Venessa, who came to my rescue to take care of Bobbie and Matilda despite winding down their work with Petsitting Hitchin in preparation for retirement.  Quite unexpectedly, we found ourselves discussing the possibility of me taking over the business.  After a couple of meetings with Dan Martin, the director, I can proudly say I am taking over the reins and feel privileged to be given the opportunity to combine family life with working to care for others precious pets.

It is sometimes difficult to leave our pets, but as I have learned from first-hand experience, it is so much easier knowing there is someone reliable and caring to provide what is needed to ensure the animals remain as relaxed and contented as possible in their familiar surroundings.

I look forward to meeting you and your pets in the near future.

My pet visits are available 7 days per week throughout the year – and as many of you know – even Christmas day and are tailored as much as possible to individual pets’ needs.  I believe we offer value for money because we are ultimately reliable, completely trustworthy and visits are personally tailored.

The more we discuss your pets, the more individual the visits will be.  This is also why the first introductory visit is so important and takes the time it takes for me to find out everything possible about your pet.  Pet Sitting Hitchin is built on mutual trust and my reliability.  I only accept bookings on the basis that I absolutely know visits can be honoured to fit in with your pets normal routine and give them my undivided attention.  Occasionally pets need and indeed only want a quick visit to wash feeding bowls and refresh food, whilst others require a longer visit depending on their age, medical, hygiene and grooming needs as well as their propensity to play and receive some fuss.

Some pets are more human orientated, often in the case of house-cats whose focus is more on their owner, rather than outdoor cats who especially at this time of year are understandably interested in what’s outside and what they may be able to bring in!  I do love the challenge of becoming closer to the more shy animals and to gain their trust; after all I start out as a stranger entering their territory– that’s where I get a large helping of job satisfaction.

I strive to ensure your pets are as happy and contented as possible so you can relax and enjoy your well-deserved holiday and obviously be confident to book me again and again – it’s a win win situation! This is why I firmly believe, visits have to be tailored!  One size does not fit all!  Your feedback is greatly appreciated by me and helpful for new clients, so please send any reviews on Pet Sitting Hitchin to lucy@petsittinghitchin.co.uk or post on the facebook page.
